CORD's robot fights teach old physics in a new way

My Reaper Robot vs. your Crazy Minion: who will win? It depends, says Mohammed ElRaffie, founder of educational science startup CORD, on who has the better tactics (and battery power).

The game is Robot Fights: a showdown between remotely-controlled robots designed to bring a real-world element to gaming as well as make physics more approachable to kids.

ElRaffie was showing the game to hordes of children and adults during Cairo's one-day Mini Maker Faire in March. He said Robot Fights was a good way of drawing a crowd - "all people get interested in seeing a fight, and they want to see robot fights...because some robots are going to get hurt" - while promoting the benefits of digital fabrication (all of his robots were made using laser cutting).
