IM Capital invests in Bokja Design
Bokja Design Studio recently got funded by IM Capital and an angel investor (who preferred to stay anonymous).
The [undisclosed] amount will be used for marketing purposes, to hire additional talents, and mainly to merge the atelier and the boutique into one space where visitors can get a real feel of the effort and dedication behind the beautiful creations.
Hoda Baroudi and Maria Hibri founded Bokja Design Studio, where new and vintage textiles are used to create handmade accessories and furniture pieces.
The name of the company, Bokja, is an old Turkish word for the embellished velvet wrapping containing the traditional hand embroidered dowry of a bride.
Baroudi and Hibri source furniture designs from the 50s, 60s and 70s, unearthed in Beirut’s flea-markets and antique dealerships, and then cover them with exuberant tapestries and textiles from the Levant and the legendary Silk Road countries of Central Asia.
