First annual Beirut Innovation Week kicks off in May
On May 9th and 11th, the UK Lebanon Tech Hub UKLTH and the new London-based, specialist accelerator Resolve, will offer startups, students, NGOs and private sector companies an opportunity to participate in Beirut Innovation Week, taking place at the co-working space Antwork and at the Beirut Digital District (BDD).
Confirmed speakers include Walid Mansour, managing partner at Middle East Venture Partners, Fadi Bizri, partner at B&Y Venture Partners, Coralie Zaccar, head of microinsurance at Commercial Insurance, Melissa Jun Rowley, co-founder of Resolve, Josh Russell, co-founder of Resolve, and Andy Dennis, founder of DeeplySimple.
This first Beirut Innovation Week will be the start of a yearly series, designed to foster relationships between UK tech influencers and Beirut’s burgeoning knowledge economy. The collaborative initiative aims to identify startups and internal corporate teams that seek to build technology products and services with potential to scale regionally and internationally.
Startups in attendance at the May 9th event, which will have an emphasis on fintech for inclusivity and economic empowerment, will have an opportunity to pitch their ideas and apply for UKLTH's ‘The Nucleus’ Venture Building Programme.
Selected startups will then be invited to meet, network and ideate with established private sector organizations at the second Beirut Innovation Week event, which will be held on May 11th at BDD.
Additionally, entrepreneurs will have an opportunity to apply for Resolve's March 2018 conference in London, where they will be able to meet with potential UK investors and partners.
