GIST Tech-I competition enters voting phase
Tech-I is a global entrepreneurship competition run in conjunction with the US Department of State. It is the flagship program of the Global Innovation through Science and Technology (GIST) initiative. The competition has entered the voting phase.
This year's event is focused on having a larger number of women entrepreneurs in the finalist stage. Of the 792 applications this year, only 17 percent were women. Since only 30 finalists will go on to receive a paid trip to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) in Kenya to have exposure for their venture, this means a further dwindling number of female contestants. We're helping change the status quo for that by giving a shout out to our readers to vote for the venture they believe will empower a woman to change the world. The female contestants come from western countries like USA and Albania, but also from MENA countries like Algeria, Tunisia, Jordan and Morocco. The full list of the names is available here.
Winners of the competition will receive mini-grants and one-on-one training. For more information, follow the provided link.
