NoSQL startup WeaveDB raises $900,000 pre-Seed round
UAE-based database startup WeaveDB, has raised a $900,000 pre-Seed round, led by Permanent Ventures, along with Web3 investors: IOSG Ventures, Mask Network, arweave.org, Hansa, Next Web Capital, CMTD, Formless Capital, and Scott Moore, co-founder of Gitcoin.
Founded in 2022 by Ahmad Mardeni, Masakazu Ohno, Tomoya Nagasawa, WeaveDB is designed to address the challenges faced by developers relying on Web2 infrastructure to build decentralised applications (dApps).
The startup looks to zero in on the rise and evolution of Web3 platforms in the Middle East and North Africa region (Mena). Out of a total of $3.94 billion raised by startups in Mena in 2022, a total of $64 million was invested in 14 Web3 startups, with the UAE's Quint and Vuz leading the fundraise, raising $25 million and $20 million respectively.
It plans to use the funding to recruit talent and start offering its node-as-a-service solutions for free.
