Wamda and AUB organize their first hackathon
Experimentation and evolution are best nourished within the walls of university campuses. Lebanon is no exception.
In this context and with the aim to support more innovation among students, Wamda and the American University of Beirut (AUB) are organizing their first hackathon on September 16th till 18th, at the Bechtel Engineering Building, on campus.
Engineering and computer science students from AUB will build together solutions for community problems. A slew of experts in a variety of fields, will join and support them over the weekend.
Around 40 students and 20 experienced mentors will take part in the three day event, which will end with the teams presenting their prototypes, and a jury choosing the winner.
The challenges are inspired by daily issues such as traffic, access to information, access to food, disaster detection and others.
Wamda and AUB have set a few challenges for the teams to work on, focused around the future of mobility, the wi-fi revolution, sensors, all-things-connected and cities of the future.
If you've already got an idea you're interested in working on during the hackathon, but it doesn't directly fit under the mentioned topics, you're still welcome to apply and further develop it. Your chances of being selected will not be affected.
Hassane Slaiby and Bassam Jalgha, cofounders of Roadie Tuner will be joining the teams as mentors, along with Rakan Nimer, CTO and cofounder of Et3arraf, Zeina Saab, founder and executive director of The Nawaya Network, Fadi Bizri Partner at B&Y Venture Partners and cofounder of Speed@BDD, and others.
Register soon! As we'll be working on a first come, first served basis and interviewing relevant applicants on a rolling basis.
