Mix N’ Mentor comes to Jordan this June with new Marketplace Edition
As one of the most vibrant cities in the region's entrepreneurial ecosystem, Amman is going to play host to Wamda’s second Mix N’ Mentor of 2015, on June 12th, at the Zain Innovation Campus (ZINC).
With an IT sector that has the full attention of the Jordanian King, and a Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship, and despite being a growing hub for the region’s tech sector, Jordan is a small country with a limited market. With this Mix N’ Mentor: Marketplace Edition, Wamda will be looking to expand those opportunities for local entrepreneurs, and give them access to more markets.
The new element for the event will see Wamda focusing on business development between entrepreneurs and corporations. Wamda will be creating a forum for the latter to discuss the challenges they face, or the industries they are interested in, and how particular startups might be able to work with them.
Working on solutions together, corporates and entrepreneurs will be encouraged to explore opportunities together. Entrepreneurs will then be able to pitch their business development solutions to the corporates during one-on-one meetings at the event. Successful pitches will be officially taken on by the corporate, to be followed up by Wamda at a later stage.
In partnership with Zain; Aramex, PayFort, Eventtus, Oasis500 and ZINC, mentors will include Wamda Chairman Fadi Ghandour; RiseUP Summit’s Con O'Donnell; Mouayed Makhlouf, MENA Director at the International Finance Corporation (IFC); Silicon Badia’s Emile Cubeisy; Marwan Juma, founder of dot.jo; Lana Alamat, partner and general counsel at Wamda Capital, and Ziad Khammar, Strategy and Development Director at Digital Media Services (DMS), and many many more from the region.
The course of the day will include roundtable discussions in the morning, where mentors and entrepreneurs will discuss fundraising, business development, team building and other topics attending entrepreneurs wish to raise.
