Wamda Wins Webpreneur Academy Award for Best Entrepreneurship Content & Community
This holiday season, the Webpreneur Academy launched the "2011 Webpreneur Academy Awards", designed, not so differently from Wamda's Best Startups of 2011 awards, which will be announced tomorrow, to honor the next generation of entrepreneurs.
These awards focus on online startups alone, many of which are graduates of Webpreneur courses and trainings. While most are based in the UAE, entrepreneurs from Pakistan and Kenya are also featured, highlighting the fact that the challenges of internet entrepreneurship are universal.
Wamda won the Best Content & Community Award for our improvements over the past year since our launch, says Webpreneur Academy founder Amir Anzur. Yet stay tuned for 2012, we say! You haven't seen anything yet.
Logistics company Aramex also took home several awards, for their Cash on Delivery and Shop and Ship service, in the eCommerce Service of the Year category. Jabbar Group also did well, with Sukar winning "Fashion Site of the Year" and CashU an winning award for Best Payment Service Provider.
The Webpreneur Academy, was launched 18 months ago and is based in Dubai, aims to train entrepreneurs how to create online businesses, through online tutorials and offline workshops. The goal of the awards, says Anzur, was to showcase and incentivize young entrepreneurs, as part of Webpreneur Academy's larger aim to help a million people make their first $1000.
